Lordy Mercy

To say I am tired is an UNDERSTATEMENT. I am here in spirit, even if not in words.

I'm still waiting for the adjust ment to begin, and 6 weeks later I'm still hurting. It would help if I got to bed before 1:30 am and stopped trying to survive on 4 hours of sleep 5 nights a week, but what can I say, I'm addicted to the Golden Girls.

Ok, I HATE promising on the site, b/c I flake on everything, but while I work hard 6 days a week, my 1 day off, I'm still moving into my room, building my closet and trying to organize my stuff. Yesterday, I got an entire side of my room done to the point that I'm not annoyed and irritated when I come home.

My project for next Sunday is to shift over a bit, clear out the storage under my bed and get the papers off the floor. Since that's all I'm working on, I'll devote a few hours to update this blog for reals. As an ex\tra incentive, before I start to work on the room, I'll do this as soon as I wake up.

Deal?

Deal!

Here we go

So, I should be in bed now, but here I am. To sum up the last few weeks. I took 2 weeks off from Job #2 (now #3) to get away, I was burning out and I had planned to use that time to find another more stable gig, which I did.

I ended up starting that gig one week in, so I never had much of a vacay and then when I knew for sure I was hired, I changed my schedule w/job #3 except they didn't and I ended up having to take off last week from the new job and actually started there this week.

Now, if that is as clear as mud, let's proceed ;)

Deep Sleep

On and off, I slept almost 10 hours last night. Then I took a 2 hour nap this afternoon. So now I'm up. But nof for long, I have orientation tomorrow and training starts Tuesday, I guess I'm just resting up. In the meantime, I've updated MS Money bill accts, I'll tackle the bank accts later this week. I signed up for a few cool things in the last week. I opened up another checking acct, that'll take money from the new gig and is strictly for debt pay down. W/one of my credit unions, I signed up for, (actually I did it w/both CUs I just forgot once I opted for paperless statements I got free bill pay) online bill pay. That will pay down the Target card in advance.

Stupid target will only let me schedule about 3 payments in advance and now that I've gotten the new balance lowered, I have a hard time paying extra on the card. So I wiped out all pending payments and set up bill pay via my CU.

Feeling Normal

For the first time in err...7 months, I feel normal. I think the two weeks off from job#2 was not only a long time coming, but is finally sinking in. The last 3 afternoons I have done nada. Matter of fact, when I got in today, I took a nap!

When I went to lunch I realized how normal I felt and wondered why it took 3 days to sink in. I think it's cuz, my schedule tends to be 1 day on, 2 days off, 2 days on, etc etc. So it had to be something unusual, like 3 days in a row and realizing I won't be back in that building for 2 whole weeks to grasp that I'm really really off.

Yessssssssssssssssssssss

When I go "blog-silent" I have somthing major going on in the offline world. I got another J-O-B! which will now be the main job #2 and current job #2 will move into job #3 status.

It's been a LOOOONG time coming, searching, finding, applying, interviewing but especially waiting. That was the hardest. I was so emotionally mentally drained last week, I ended up taking 2 weeks off from job #3 just to cool my heals and decompress.

I officially recieved the offer today and am in the process of doing the preliminary stuff for a few more days till my official start date. I'm just so very tired right now. I was going to trim back my hours on job #2 (the retail gig) for a few months anyway, so for the immediate future, I'll work there fri & sat nights. the new gig will be mon - thur nights and I'll actually have Sunday off.

The workaholic in me is trying hard to resist scheduling 4-5 hours of work time and instead will use that day to rest, get my house in order and do personal things.

I may also go away either this weekend or next, just to get out of town and if I don't go now, my next chance won't be till mid October, but I'll play that by ear.

Right now I'm just going to catch up on some movies and try real hard to get the super big grin off of my face :D

Progress Report - Month 6

Decison to make or not

So I get bal trans checks for 1.99 APR thru Feb 2009 from my paid in full Wamu Visa card. I'm not sure if I should bite. The credit limit on that card is $1k and right now, it doesn't see to be much of a dent to anything. The worst I'll be doing is spreading my debt across yet another card and I'm thinking of putting it onto the Target Visa.

If I do that and knock the balance down by $1265.00 this month, I did the number crunching and the finance charges will dip from $145/mo to about $124/mo. Not a huge drop, while I'll have to pay $145/mo from July to Jan to get the card paid off in time.

So my minimum payment on Target my drop by $100 and I'll know pay 1.99% on 1k of debt vs. 19.24 for 7 months. Even the time it'll take to do the math doesn't feel to be worth it so for now, I think I'll pass.

I have till 7/30 to use the checks.

Promises, promises

Back in May I said there were a few topics I was going to tackle in coming weeks:

- Compound Interest is kicking my ass
- Numbers don't lie, finally did a budget and um, yikes!
- Lean months are coming
- Going back to school??
- Taking a step back to see what I have accomplished so far

Naturally, I have forgotten the major points of said teasers, so this'll be easier than I thought. I'll be able to wrap this all up in one post.

*****

1. Compound Interest is kicking my ass

I didn't full grasp the evils of compound interest till I mused my Target bill and it's ever so slow downward creep. It seemed like I was paying interest on interest. Feeling frustrated and like I busted a credit card doing something sue-worthy, I opened up calculator and tried to crunch the numbers I never touch. The ones behind the scene. What I found out, floored me.

Ouch

Ok, so last week I mentioned I was going to start posting (eventually on a daily basis) my spending, down to the penny. It'll reveal a lot about me and unfortunately as I transcribed all spending from MS Money to Notepad so I could copy and paste, I cringed w/each "reason" for spending.

Just about caught up

One thing is a given, if I'm not posting, it's b/c I'm offline working as many hours as possible, which has been the case for the last 4 weeks. May was a rough month, I had my car tags due, insurance renewed and overspent money that could've went towards my overall debt. Oh yeah, I had vet fees and for the first time in almost 6 months took a vacation.

All of the above was charged and have been paid in full and officially leaves me w/the Target card and the capital one card that paid my fed taxes from April. Geez Louise will this viscious cycle ever end? I'm hoping so and have decided to use June 1 as the turning point, both financially and blog(ially) if that even is a word.

I hate neglecting the site but debt calls. I had a stint of working 9 days in a row in Job #2, all a blur now, then one day off, then 5 days on and now the month is over. I did manage to getaway for a few days, I was scheduled off last Fri and Sat and took a vacay day from job #1 and headed down to Savannah and Tybee Island for a day, just to get out of my rut, get some rays and see the ocean.
